Appeal following suspicious Lyme Regis house fire

Detectives are investigating a suspicious house fire in west Dorset.

Dorset Police said the blaze broke out behind the front door of a first floor flat in Manor Avenue, in Lyme Regis, at about 0230 BST on Sunday.

A patch of carpet immediately below the letter box was damaged by the fire, which was extinguished before the fire crews arrived, a spokesman said.

"The occupants were present however, no-one was injured," he added. Weymouth CID is appealing for witnesses.
