Water aerobics spark coastguard search off Dorset
A coastguard helicopter search was sparked by two swimmers practising water aerobics off the Dorset coast.
A member of the public called 999 believing the pair were waving for help off Hengitsbury Head on Monday evening.
A coastguard spokesman said they were "competent" swimmers but could see how the misunderstanding occurred.
He said the caller "thought they were too far off but in fact they were only 150 metres out". The swimmers came ashore themselves.
The Portland Coastguard helicopter, Southbourne Coastguard Rescue Team and Mudeford RNLI lifeboat were scrambled but later stood down.
