Unexploded bomb halts Sandbanks chain ferry

An unexploded bomb has been discovered between Ferry Road and Little Sea in Studland, Dorset.

The 500lb (226.8 kg) device, discovered by the military on Monday, temporarily halted the Sandbanks to Shell Bay chain ferry service.

It has now been detonated and did not pose an immediate threat to the public, according to police.

The chain ferry has resumed normal service and Ferry Road has also been fully reopened.
