Three lifeboat crews and a coastguard helicopter have been searching for a missing person off the south Devon coast.

Torbay inshore and all-weather boats were launched at about 09:30 GMT after reports of a person missing off Preston Sands beach, the RNLI confirmed.

The seafront at Torbay has been cordoned off by police, according to witnesses.

BBC presenter Rick Edwards said police were seen on the seafront.

"Most of the activity was on the seafront," he said. "It looked like they were doing a concentrated search."
