Fire crews were called to deal with a "minor spillage" after 50 barrels of hydrochloric acid were blown over by wind at an outdoor swimming pool.

Crews called to the open-air Tinside Lido in Plymouth on Wednesday sprayed water "to make the area safe".

Swimming pool staff later moved the barrels inside. The chemical is used to treat pool water.

The 1935 Art Deco lido is beside Plymouth Sound and overlooked by Plymouth Hoe.

No-one was available for immediate comment from the council-owned pool.
