Colin Marquardt admits downloading child abuse images

A man has pleaded guilty to downloading more than 250,000 images of child abuse from the internet.

Colin Marquardt, 57, admitted four counts of making indecent images of children and one of possessing extreme pornography when he appeared at Exeter Crown Court.

Marquardt, of Barbican Terrace, Barnstaple, Devon, admitted making the images between 2007 and 2015.

Almost 2,000 images have been classed as the most serious.

Judge Jeremy Griggs ordered a probation pre-sentence report and released Marquardt on bail.
