Burglars have stolen four military medals of "huge sentimental value" from a house in Plymouth.

Police said a Queen's Diamond Jubilee, a Queen's Golden Jubilee, a Northern Ireland General Service and an Accumulated Service medal were taken.

They were taken from Taunton Avenue in Whitleigh between 23:00 BST on Tuesday night and 06:00 on Wednesday.

A number of other items including a military driving licence and an Army fitness guide book were also taken.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said: "These are very distinctive items.

"We are hoping someone will have seen the stolen property or been offered the items for sale, and we would urge them to get in touch with police."
