Water restored to hundreds of Sidmouth homes

Water has been restored to hundreds of homes in Devon after it was cut off following "problems" at a reservoir.

About 1,200 homes were affected in the Sidmouth area on Thursday, said South West Water.

Some residents said they were without water from about 17:30 GMT. The company said it restored water to all properties by 23:00.

A spokeswoman said there had been an issue with a valve stopping water to travel from a reservoir to the network.

She added some residents were sent text messages telling them about the disruption.
