Flats evacuated after fire breaks out in Seaton gas main

People have been evacuated from their homes in a Devon town after a gas main caught fire.

Four fire crews were called to Cross Street in Seaton after the fire was seen in an alley at about 17:45 GMT on Sunday.

A number of flats beside the blaze were evacuated and gas engineers were called to the scene to isolate the supply, Devon and Somerset Fire Service said.

There were no reports of any injuries. The cause is being investigated.
