A man has been seriously injured in a stabbing in Plymouth.

The 23-year-old was found near the city's railway station at about 13:00 BST. He had been stabbed three times.

He was taken to Derriford Hospital with wounds to his abdomen, shoulder and thigh. His condition is serious, but not thought to be life threatening.

The attack is thought to have happened between North Road West and the station. Anyone with information has been asked to contact police.

The area surrounding the railway station has been cordoned off.

Devon and Cornwall Police said no arrests have been made.

"It is very early in the investigation and it is still being established exactly what took place and how many people we are looking for," a police spokesperson said.

"We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen anyone running off from Staddon Terrace Lane towards the direction of Patna Park or Bayswater Road."
