A family has paid tribute to a toddler found dead in his home, saying: "The light has gone from our lives."

Shaun Ryleigh O'Neill's body was found at a house in the Champernowne area of Modbury on Saturday.

His siblings Lee and Lucy said he was a "fantastic little brother" and his father, Ryan O'Neill, said he was "saddened and shocked" by his death.

Angela Vane, 40, thought to be Shaun's mother, is due before Plymouth Crown Court on 8 May charged with his murder.

Mr O'Neill, said: "We are deeply saddened and shocked by the recent tragic events and grieving the loss of a lovely little boy.

"Shaun was much loved by all his family. A happy little boy will be forever in our hearts and thoughts."
