Ambrosia factory workers hospitalised by chemical spill

Eight people were taken to hospital after a chemical spill at the Ambrosia Creamery in Devon.

The Lifton factory, which makes custard and rice pudding, raised the alarm after a "very small amount" of nitric acid was spilled at about 13:00 GMT.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said 60 other employees were decontaminated and given clean clothes.

No-one was seriously injured, but eight members of staff were taken to hospital "as a precaution".
