Three hundred call centre jobs are on their way to Plymouth, the Money Group has announced.

The Truro-based financial services business is setting up what it calls a "super call centre" at Burrington Way.

The firm, which employs about 300 people at Truro, in Cornwall, hopes to open the new centre on 14 January.

Tim Jones, of the Devon and Cornwall Business Council, said he was "ecstatic" and described it as an "early Christmas present".

'Real boost'

He said: "They may be call centre jobs but that is secondary to the fact that will be very much welcome.

"This will be a real boost to the local economy.

"There is a perception that Plymouth has lost out to Exeter recently, but this is a real coup."

The Money Group calls itself a "fast expanding, dynamic financial services business".

It has been based in Truro for the past 20 years and wants to be a "market leader in consumer money saving and price comparison".
