Devon unemployment rate fell in September
There was a slight fall in unemployment in Devon in September, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
Figures show 18,726 people were out of work and claiming jobseeker's allowance last month - 449 fewer than the August figure of 19,175.
In the Devon county area, the figure was 9,010 - down from 9,273. The number in Plymouth fell from 6,490 to 6,287.
In Torbay, however, the number rose slightly from 3,412 in August, to 3,429 last month.
Nationally, the ONS figures also showed a slight fall in the number of people out of work and claiming benefit in September.
In percentage terms, at 2% and 3.6% respectively, both Devon and Plymouth's unemployment rate is lower than the national rate of 3.8%, but at 4.3% Torbay's is slightly higher.
