Bikes donated to Teignmouth RNLI to beat traffic queues

Members of a Devon lifeboat crew have received bicycles to help them respond to emergency call outs more quickly.

The bikes have been donated to Teignmouth lifeboat crew by a voluntary organisation, which is based in Devon, called Ride-On Cycling for All.

Crew member Nicola Turner said there can be "horrendous queues of traffic" through the town.

In the future, there are plans to brand the bikes so people are aware crew members are riding them.

Ms Turner added: "We have to launch [the boat] within five minutes if it's a life or death shout and having the bikes will be really helpful."

Members have received six bikes from the organisation which refurbishes old bicycles and gives them to children.

Many adult bikes were also donated to the organisation which have since been passed onto the crew.
