Torbay police patrol rise to deter Christmas criminals

Known criminals in Torbay have been warned by police that there will be increased patrols in shopping areas during the run-up to Christmas.

Uniformed and plain clothes officers will be on patrol from 21 November until Christmas Eve.

The initiative is being supported by Torbay Council and retail outlets in Torquay and Paignton.

Det Ch Insp Nick Wilden said: "Levels of acquisitive crime have increased in Torbay and nationally in recent times."

He added: "Reducing such crime and bringing to justice anyone seeking to commit such offences is a key priority for us over this Christmas."
