Contractor killed in Exeter shopping centre fall

A worker has been killed in a fall from a shopping centre building in Exeter.

The contractor, aged in his 60s, was working on a building at the Princesshay Shopping Centre when he fell at about 21:30 GMT on Wednesday.

Police are not treating the death of the man, from south Wales, as suspicious.

No-one from Devon and Cornwall Police, landowners Land Securities or contractors Sir Robert McAlpine was able to say how far the man fell.

The Health and Safety Executive has been notified.

A Land Securities spokesperson said: "Our thoughts and sympathy is with his family at this time and we are committed to working with the authorities and the contractor in investigating this incident."
