Hundreds of fish moved from Devon lake

About 80 volunteers will move hundreds of fish from a five-acre lake in Devon so it can be drained and cleaned.

Fish will be taken from the main lake at Anglers Paradise in Halwill, near Beaworthy, and moved to temporary accommodation in nearby ponds.

Weed and silt will be removed before the fish are returned to the lake within a month, owner Zyg Gregorek said.

The lake contains carp, catfish and golden tench.

Mr Gregorek said some of the carp weighed more than 30lb (13.6kg) and some of the catfish more than 60lb (27.2kg).

The main lake was last drained in 2007, he added.
