Crews fight second fire at derelict Sidmouth hotel

A second fire has raged through a derelict hotel in Devon less than four weeks after it was severely damaged in a suspicious blaze.

Firefighters were called to the four-storey Fortfield Hotel, near Sidmouth seafront, just before 1900 GMT on Friday.

Crews from across Devon worked through the night to contain the fire on the third floor and roof.

No one was injured and an investigation into the cause of the blaze has begun.

In December, 80 firefighters battled a fire at the hotel, which has been derelict for a number of years.

It has been vandalised in the past and used by squatters, but measures had been taken by the hotel's owner Andrew Torjussen to prevent intruders.
