Figures show small rise in Devon jobless claimants


Figures for October show the number of people out of work and claiming benefit has risen very slightly in Devon.

According to the Office for National Statistics, there were 8,215 claimants last month - 27 more than in September.

It represents 1.8% of the county's population, which remains lower than the UK average of 3.6%.

Nationally, the claimant count fell by 3,700 in October - down to 1.47 million.
