Devon recyclers offer to cut waste cost

A new £1.4m recycling plant in Devon will cut waste costs for businesses, say its operators.

The TQ Recycling plant at Torr Quarry, Kingsbridge, uses a laser to scan materials and a jet stream of air to separate them.

Waste is collected from businesses in the area including hotels, caravan parks and offices.

TQ says that businesses save on the cost of separating waste and having it collected.

The plant, which officially opened on Thursday, can separate the waste into different types of plastics, paper, cans, and other materials which are baled and sold to companies that re-use the waste.

Claire Crawley of TQ said: "This has the potential to transform the way we recycle in Devon.

"Businesses can recycle a lot more which is brilliant for the environment and for their pockets because they save money on costs of separation and taking away their waste."
