Gunman grabs cash from Plymouth shop

Police are hunting a masked robber who threatened a shop assistant with a handgun in Devon.

The robber walked into Morice Town Stores in Charlotte Street, Plymouth, on Saturday at about 2045 BST.

Police said he produced what is thought to be a handgun and demanded money before grabbing cash from the till and fleeing.

The robber is white, more than 6ft tall and slim. He wore a black jacket with white writing on a rear shoulder.

A police spokesman said: "Incidents of this nature are still rare in the Devon and Cornwall area and police are pursuing a number of lines of inquiry in order to identify and arrest this offender."
