The husband of one of two women found dead after a house fire in Devon has been arrested.

The bodies of Neil Langmead's estranged wife Debbie Jones, and Donna St John, both 35, were found in Fortmead Close, Barnstaple, on 22 August.

Mr Langmead, from Barnstaple, has been under police guard for more than a week and will be interviewed as soon he is well enough.

The 40-year-old was arrested on suspicion of murdering the women.

He will remain under guard at North Devon District Hospital until doctors advise he is well enough to be spoken to.

Det Insp Mike West, who is leading the investigation into the deaths, said he was pleased with the assistance and information received from the local community.

The results of post-mortem examinations carried out on the women have not been revealed.
