A 17-year-old boy has died after being stabbed in the street following a "massive party" at a bar.

The teenager, from Leicester, was found seriously injured in Swadlincote, Derbyshire, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He was taken to Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham where he later died.

A 20-year-old Leicester man who intervened was also taken to hospital suffering a wound to the chest but has now been discharged.

Emergency services were called to The Empire, in West Street, at about 04:00 BST.

Derbyshire Police believe the teenager became involved in an argument with another man and said the people involved knew each other.

A man from a nearby taxi firm previously described how there had been a "massive party" at the bar and people were "shaking" as they came into the office and asked for taxis.
