Derbyshire fire chief Sean Frayne denies rape

Derbyshire's chief fire officer has pleaded not guilty to a charge of raping a woman.

Sean Frayne, who has been suspended from his post with Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service, is charged with one count of rape.

The 48-year-old, who lives in Etwall, entered the plea at Derby Crown Court earlier. A trial date has already been set for 10 November.

The woman is alleged to have been raped between November 2006 and January 2007.

The trial is expected to last three days.
