Three die in double motorcycle crash near Chesterfield

Three men have been killed in a crash involving two motorcycles in north Derbyshire.

They died on the A61 at Wingerworth, near Chesterfield, on Saturday afternoon.

The victims, two from Chesterfield, aged 45 and 49, and a 46-year-old Sheffield man, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash, which happened close to the Hunloke Arms pub at about 15:00 BST, involved two riders and a passenger.

The families of the men have been informed and an investigation into the cause of the accident is under way.

Police initially said it was two men and a woman involved in the crash.

In a separate incident, a 53-year-old Derbyshire man died after a motorbike collided with a car at about 18:00 BST on Saturday on Mortimer Road - known locally as Strines Road or the Strines - near Bradfield.
