Woman sexually assaulted in Ilkeston park

A 24-year-old woman was sexually assaulted during an attack in a Derbyshire park.

She was walking in Wharncliffe Road, Ilkeston, at about 01:30 GMT on Sunday when she was approached by a man who offered to get her home.

She walked with him and as they entered Rutland Recreation Ground they were joined by a second man.

The two men then sexually assaulted her and took items from her handbag before leaving her in the park.

The men are described as white and in their early 20s. They were both slim, clean shaven and spoke with local accents.

One had short dark hair and wore a grey hooded zip-up sports top. The other man wore a black zip-up jacket.

Det Insp Tim Cadman said: "This [was] a despicable attack on a vulnerable young woman who was trying to get home after a night out."
