Labour wins Bolsover District Council by-election

Labour has gained a seat on a district council in Derbyshire following a by-election.

Sandra Peake took the Shirebrook South West seat on Bolsover District Council following the poll on Thursday.

A by-election had to be held after the previous independent councillor Alan Waring died in July.

Labour polled 200 votes, Ian Musgrove, Green Party, took 103 votes, Frederick Newholme, Conservative, polled 76 and BNP candidate David Key won 43 votes.
