Horse-drawn hearse championship held in Derbyshire

Help

An agricultural show in Derbyshire has hosted what is claimed to be the UK's first horse-drawn hearse championship.

The competition, held at the Bakewell Show, saw eight teams from across the country judged on style of walk and trotting, overall turnout and the skill of the coach drivers.

A joint team featuring funeral directors from Macclesfield and Bradford was named overall winner and best four-horse team.

Another team, from Wigan, won the prize for the best two-horse hearse.
