A woman has been taken to hospital following a fire at a house in Derby.

About 35 firefighters tackled the blaze at the mid-terraced property in Fleet Street at about 0700 BST.

A spokeswoman for Derbyshire Fire & Rescue said the fire broke out on the first floor of the house which then spread to neighbouring properties.

The woman was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

A building inspector from Derbyshire County Council was at the scene to assess the damage.
