Three arrested after attack on taxi driver in Bretby

Three people have been arrested after a taxi driver needed hospital treatment for facial cuts when he was struck on the head with a glass.

The man was driving along Ashby Road East, Bretby, at about 0420 GMT on Friday when he was allegedly attacked by one of his passengers.

An 18-year-old woman and two men are in police custody and are due to be questioned by officers.

The driver was treated at Queen's Hospital, Burton, then discharged.

Det Sgt Ian Louch said: "The incident happened in the early hours of the morning, near to the Stanhope Arms. It's a rural location but we would appeal to anyone who saw or heard anything to come forward."
