Final touches to major Matlock square facelift
Five trees have been added to Matlock's Crown Square as part of a £1m redevelopment of the Derbyshire town's main public square.
Old-style lamps, an improved roundabout and stone paving has also been added by Derbyshire Dales District Council.
Council leader Lewis Rose said the scheme was vital as it "gives traders a boost in difficult financial times".
The district and county councils funded the project along with Derbyshire Economic Partnership and Sainsburys.
Councillor Rose said: "The people who live and work in and around Matlock told us what they liked about this historic town, including its unique characteristics, but also identified areas in need of a facelift."
