Police investigating how a man came to be lying in a Derbyshire road before he was struck by a car have charged an 18-year-old man.
He was run over at about 0225 GMT on Sunday on Derby Road in Borrowash.
The people in the car stopped, administered first aid to the injured 20-year-old man and called emergency services.
The 18-year-old has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm and will appear before Derby magistrates later.
Police said the victim was taken to the Royal Derby Hospital with serious injuries and later transferred to Sheffield Northern General Hospital.
