Views sought on Derbyshire wind turbine plan

Residents are being asked for their views on plans to build wind turbines in part of Derbyshire.

Bolsover Distrcit Council has received an application from Banks Developments to erect three turbines on fields in Palterton.

About 550 households have been sent letters about the application, giving them an opportunity to have their say on the proposals.

The turbines would generate energy to power more than 4,000 homes.

Emotional reaction

The developer wants to erect the turbines, which would stand 125m (410ft) high, on fields to the east and west of the junction of Glapwell Lane with Losk Lane.

Councillor Dennis Kelly, cabinet member for the environment, said: "We know this proposal has stirred up some emotion in the local community.

"That's why we want local residents to have as much time and information as possible so they have all the facts in front of them and they can then make an informed judgement about it.

"Once we have all these comments and representations we can then take them all into consideration before we make our decision on the development."
