Health and lifestyle checks offered in south Derbyshire

Free body MOTs are to be held this week across South Derbyshire.

People can visit various community venues for the health checks and can return to monitor their progress.

The assessments include heart checks and blood pressure readings as well as checks on lung function, weight, and levels of carbon dioxide in the blood.

A trained exercise professional will also be on hand to offer advice on keeping fit, diet and nutritional information.

Community sports coach at South Derbyshire District Council Lewis Adams said: "We hope these health checks will make people think about their lifestyles - how active they are, if they smoke and what they eat. Appointments are not necessary."

The assessments will be held at Etwall, Swadlincote, Melbourne and Newhall.

They follow a successful programme of health checks held throughout the year, the district council said.
