Victim of fatal crash on A38 in Derbyshire named

A man who died following a five-vehicle crash on the A38 in Derbyshire has been identified by police.

The accident, involving three vans, a lorry and a Piaggio 125cc scooter, happened at Kilburn on the Derby-bound carriageway on Thursday morning.

The rider of the scooter, Russell Garbett, 48, of Stanton Crescent, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, died later at the Royal Derby Hospital.

An inquest into Mr Garbett's death has been opened and adjourned.

The road was closed for about five hours following the crash.

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
