A Cumbrian man has been charged after allegedly making racist comments to security staff at Carlisle United's Brunton Park ground.

The 23-year-old, from Carlisle, was arrested following United's match against Grimsby Town on 2 January.

Cumbria Police said he had been charged with a racially-aggravated public order offence after Carlisle's 3-1 defeat.

A force spokesman added the man had been bailed to appear before magistrates in Carlisle on 23 March.
