Kian Thorburn sentenced for stealing £10,000 from foster grandfather

A thief who stole £10,000 from his foster grandfather while caring for him has been sentenced.

Kian Thorburn, 22, of Penrith, stole the money from George Warwick while he was living with him and spent it on clothes and a television.

He admitted theft and fraud at Carlisle Crown Court, and was given a 15-month jail term suspended for two years.

Judge Peter Hughes QC said he had spared him prison after a plea from Mr Warwick.

Thorburn, of Southend Road, was ordered to do 200 hours' unpaid work and was put on a six-month night curfew.
