Tributes have been paid to an elderly pedestrian who died after being hit by a car in Cumbria.

Peter Hunt, 83, was hit by a car at 20:45 GMT on the A6 near Levens Hall, on 6 December. He died in hospital on Friday.

The driver of the Kia Picanto was uninjured.

Mr Hunt's family said the retired Cumbria County Council caretaker was a "devoted" husband to his wife Joyce who would be "greatly missed".

Mr Hunt would travel from his home in Kendal to Lancaster every day to see his wife Joyce who went into a care home after a sudden change in her health, his family said.

Originally from Liverpool, the couple enjoyed exploring the fells together during their 60-year marriage.
