An inmate with "a history of violence" who absconded from a prison in Cumbria has been recaptured, police said.

Robber Dean Walker sparked a search operation after he was reported missing from the Category C HMP Haverigg near Barrow on Friday.

The 32-year-old from Manchester was serving a term for robbery.

A Cumbria Police spokeswoman said Walker was arrested on Sunday night after he was traced to Manchester.
