Crash death woman Audrey Tunstall described as 'elegant lady'

A 79-year-old woman who was killed when she was struck by a car in Cumbria, has been described as an "elegant and cheery lady" by her family.

Audrey Tunstall, from Seaton, died in hospital after being hit at Dunmail Park, in Workington, on Saturday. Another woman pedestrian was also hurt.

A man, 46, has been bailed on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

In a statement released by Cumbria Police, Mrs Tunstall's family said the incident had left them "heartbroken".

Mrs Tunstall died following injuries sustained in a collision with a Volkswagen Passat on the A596 on Saturday evening.

She was with a 35-year-old friend at the time who was also injured in the collision and is in a critical condition at Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary.

Mrs Tunstall's family said: "This tragedy has left behind a heartbroken loving son, two sisters and their respective families."
