Barepot girl stabbing: Man denies attempted murder

A man has pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of a girl who was stabbed with a knife in Cumbria.

Police were called to the Barepot area at 21:25 BST on Wednesday following reports a 15-year-old had been stabbed and a second girl, 14, attacked.

The older girl was taken to hospital in Newcastle with serious injuries.

Adrian Fallows, 39, of Jodrell Street, Nuneaton, Warwickshire, denied attempted murder and common assault at Carlisle Combined Court.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on 20 June.

The 14-year-old girl was not injured.
