A teacher who exposed himself in front of a mother and her children at a swimming pool has been sentenced to a nine-month community order.

Alisdair Wilson twice appeared naked behind the woman when he swung open his cubicle door in the communal changing room at The Pools in Carlisle.

The 27-year-old, of Houghton, had denied indecent exposure following the incident on 1 April.

He was convicted this month following a trial at Carlisle Crown Court.

Wilson was also made subject to a 40-day rehabilitation order.

In a statement following the sentencing, Det Con Catherine McFadden, of Cumbria Police, said Wilson had committed a "deliberate act" and left the victim "distressed".
