Gordon Smith murder case: Windermere man charged

A man is due to appear in court accused of murdering Gordon James Smith in a Lake District town.

Mr Smith, 44, was found dead lying in Lake Road in Windermere early on 1 July.

Cumbria Police said Mark Russell, 26, of Holly Terrace in the town, has been charged with murder and remanded in custody.

He is due to appear at Furness and District Magistrates Court on Monday.

A woman, aged 48, and a 15-year-old girl, both from Kent, have been bailed until 10 July and a 31-year-old man from Millom has been bailed until 17 July.
