Tributes paid to Averil Mason, 82, after fatal Cumbria crash
Tributes have been paid to an 82-year-old great-grandmother who died in a three-car collision in Cumbria on Friday.
Averil Mason, from Levens, died at the scene following the crash on the A590 at Gilpin Bridge at about 08:10 BST.
Mrs Mason's family said they were "devastated" at her loss.
No-one else was injured in the incident, which resulted in the road being closed for about three hours. An investigation into the crash continues.
Mrs Mason was driving a Fiat Punto which was in collision with a Volkswagen Touran and a Kia Magentis, driven by two men.
In a tribute released through police, Mrs Mason's family said: "The family are devastated at the sudden loss of Averil.
"Married to Chuck for 59 years, they have three children, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Averil had a wide circle of wonderful friends."
The retired pharmacist had lived in Levens almost her entire life and was a keen golfer, a member of the church and the Women's Institute, the family said.
