Vote counts under way in Cumbria

Votes are being counted across Cumbria after polling closed in the local government and European elections.

One third of the seats are up for grabs in each of Carlisle City and South Lakeland District councils.

Copeland Borough Council held a referendum on whether there should be a directly elected mayor.

Polls closed at 22:00 BST, with the local counts taking place overnight or on Friday, and European election results announced late on Sunday.
