Speed limits enforced in Cumbria villages

New speed limits have been enforced in three villages in Cumbria.

Cumbria County Council's Local Committee for Eden agreed to implement or extend 30mph zones in Brough, Tebay and Blencarn.

In the centres of Tebay and Brough the speed limits have been lowered, while the limit on the C3004 in Blecncarn has been extended by about 200m (650ft).

The council said it received no objections to the proposals between June and August.

Councillor Martin Stephenson said: "A consistent speed limit will be in place in Tebay and Brough that will enhance road safety while extending the 30mph zone in Blencarn, at the request of the parish council and local residents, is going to slow vehicles down before they enter the village."
