Plan to upgrade A66 safety barriers in Cumbria

Plans to upgrade ageing safety barriers on the A66 in Cumbria have been unveiled by the Highways Agency.

The £61,000 scheme will involve replacing verge-side safety barriers along two stretches of the road at the Appleby bypass and at Kirkby Thore.

The work is due to begin on 24 September and run in two phases until 7 October.

The agency said work would be undertaken during off-peak hours in an effort to to reduce delays.
