Suspended sentence for Cumbria tennis treasurer thief

A former volunteer treasurer who stole more than £100,000 from her tennis club has been given a suspended sentence.

Susan Haynes took cash from the Cumbria Lawn Tennis Association and used its credit card for personal spending.

The 51-year-old of Yewdale Road, Carlisle, had previously pleaded guilty to theft and fraud.

The judge at Carlisle Crown Court sentenced her to two years for theft, and eight months for fraud, both suspended for two years.

She was also given an eight month sentence, suspended for two years on the fraud charge, to run concurrently.
