Elizabeth Huber dies in Dungeon Ghyll ravine fall

A walker from Switzerland died after falling 100 metres (328ft) from a path into a ravine in the Lake District.

Elizabeth Huber, 68, from Heimberg, was with a group in Dungeon Ghyll, Great Langdale, when she fell from the footpath on Tuesday afternoon.

Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team was called out and its 19 members were joined by fellow-rescuers from the Kendal team.

Rescuers recovered Ms Huber's body and helped the group off the fell.

A search and rescue Sea King helicopter from RAF Valley on Anglesey also flew to the site.

Police officers in Cumbria are working with Interpol to support Ms Huber's family in Switzerland.
